My step sons have had a rather interesting impact on my life.  Both of them like to try what I call extreme sports.

To be more specific, this includes, but is not excluded to, activities such as sky-diving, theme parks and roller coasters (wet and dry), snow skiing, water skiing, wakeboarding both on snow and water, ropes courses and who knows what other activities I don’t even know about.  As you might have guessed, the “boys” are all grown up, responsible adults.

They’ve been particularly supportive in “encouraging” me to partake in some of these activities with them …

I have a neck / back injury from years back, so I’m very cautious about anything that may trigger off weeks of physical pain, and the subsequent financial drain of having it fixed.

However, in the interests of family, I have indulged them and joined in some of the activities – sky-diving and theme parks.  And no, I didn’t just sit there and watch!

The eldest, Jared, is forever persuading me to go on any ride he can get me on.  And, most of the time I’ll indulge him, and have a go.  And, truth be told (but please don’t tell him this) I really enjoy it!

Now, you’re reading this, and you’re saying, yep, OK, but what does this have to do with property.

Well, a lot actually.

The property market, and investing in property, is just like one of these roller coaster rides.

The market is in chaos – you’re standing there looking at this massive, big, roller coaster, with lots of screaming people, and you’re freaking out.

You are negotiating the contract, trying to get finance, dealing with inspections – you’re standing in line, waiting … wondering whether you’re really going to get on this thing, or whether you’ll chicken out before your turn comes.

The contract goes unconditional – and you’re about to get in, buckle up, and go on the ride of your life.

Interest rates go down – the roller coasting is belting down the slope and it is lots of fun.

Interest rates go up – the roller coasting is going up the slope and you’re feeling nervous.

The market is booming – you’re looping the loop and screaming for joy.

You finally sell and make a profit – you get off the roller coaster, and you’re feeling a rush of adrenalin, exhilarated, joyous – it’s all over so quickly … and you want to go again.

Yes, property investing is just like a roller coaster ride – a series of emotional ups and downs – nerves, calm, adrenalin, fear, exhilaration, fun and joy.

But here’s the beauty of it – the ride always comes to an end, and there’s always the opportunity of another ride.

The market at the moment is putting a lot of us through the “ride”.  As you experience the investing roller coaster, just remember, whatever you’re feeling right now will all be over in a minute.

Enjoy the ride …

Bless ya!Jennie

PS  It’s always easier to be an investor when you’re supported by others who are experiencing the ride with you.  Have you considered being mentored?  Check out more at www.jenniebrown.com.au/gold-class
